What makes us Employer of Choice?
That’s easy—our people. That’s why we went to them for feedback. Last March, we took the questions to our employees and focused on 5 areas that affects them in the workplace:
- Creating Rewards
- Competitive Practices
After all—they’re the ones who know best. And thanks to them, we earned the Employer of Choice designation this past year . We’re grateful to have many dedicated and long-term employees that want to be here. And that’s what employer of choice is all about; making it a company you want to work for [considering we spend a majority of our life working]. We want our people to love what they do and where they do it.
89% would describe our company as an Employer of Choice.
As a newly merged and rebranded company, we’re especially striving to bridge the gap between all our employees across each location and within each team. This program seemed like the next logically step—we revamped externally, not let’s make sure internally we’re working like a well-oiled machine. We’re always looking for new ways to provide engagement opportunities for our employees to speak to what matters most to them and how we can improve their work life experience. We also want to inspire talented workers to join the team.
Our management team at our annual team meeting where we shared our Employer of Choice results.
Executive Director of THRSC, Kelly Henderson reconized us as an Employer of Choice with an award to our senior management team, John MacKay, Rod Mackay, and Peter Macgillivray.
So what exactly is Employer of Choice?
The Employer of Choice program is a multilevel approach providing employers the opportunity to gather insight from employees in five key areas of their operation: Communication, Culture, Creating Rewards, Competitive Practices and Connection. This feedback provides an employer a clearer picture on what employees value and helps build an HR business plan for the next 3 years, responding to those interests and needs of your workforce.
